Privacy

What we collect, why, who gets it, how long we keep it and your rights. We use no cookies and no analytics. If you ask for a broker introduction, we do store your request.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Domain Farm Ltd, company number 13544286, registered office Vantage House, Euxton Lane, Euxton, Chorley, Lancashire PR7 6TB. It publishes Businesses Funding. To ask a question, make a request about your data or ask us to delete it, email editor@businessesfunding.co.uk.

The short version

  • Browsing the site, reading the guides and using the calculators collects nothing that identifies you. The calculators run in your browser and send nothing anywhere.
  • If you use Find a lender and press Send, we keep your request for 12 months and, with your consent, pass it to a business finance broker who contacts you. Domain Farm Ltd is paid by the broker for introductions.
  • Nothing is sent until you tick an unticked consent box. You can withdraw consent at any time.

What we collect, and why

If you send a Find a lender request

Only what you type or choose, plus the public Companies House record for the company you named:

  • The company: its name, number, status, type, incorporation date, industry code, whether its accounts are overdue and how many charges are outstanding, from Companies House; and what you say about trading time, industry, turnover band, accounts and charges.
  • What you need: the amount, what it is for, how soon, and whether you would give security or a personal guarantee.
  • You: your name, your role in the business, phone number, email address and best time to call.
  • The consent record: the exact wording you agreed to, its version, and the date and time.
  • The page you came from on this site (for example the business loans page), if your browser tells us.

We do not store your IP address with your request. Why: to pass your request to a broker who can contact you about finance, to keep proof of your consent, and to answer questions or complaints. We do not use it for anything else and we do not ask for directors, officers or anyone else’s personal data.

The Companies House lookup

As you type a company name or number, the text is sent to our server, which asks Companies House, the UK register of companies, for the public record. Companies House sees a request from our server, not from you. We keep a short-lived copy of its public reply (up to 10 minutes for search results, 1 hour for a company record) and a per-visitor request counter, a one-way hash of your IP address deleted within minutes, to stop abuse. When you press Send, our server checks the company number at Companies House again.

Spam protection

To keep bots out we check how long the form took to complete and use a hidden field. We count requests per visitor using a salted one-way hash of the IP address, deleted within a day, and we remember a hash of the company number and email address for 24 hours to catch double submissions. A log of dropped spam holds a reason code and a time, and no personal data.

Server logs

Like any website, our web server records a standard access log: the time, the address requested and the IP address of the visitor. For a lookup, the address requested includes the text typed. The log stays on our hosting server and is used to diagnose faults and abuse. It does not hold the contents of a submitted form. We have not yet set a fixed deletion period for these logs.

Our lawful basis

For passing your request to a broker, our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). For spam protection and server logs it is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working (Article 6(1)(f)). The Companies House data is public.

Who receives your details

  • A UK business finance broker we work with, the broker. It receives your request so it can contact you about finance. It is responsible for how it uses your details from then on, and should give you its own privacy notice when it contacts you. Domain Farm Ltd is paid by the broker for introductions. We pass your request to one broker, not to several, and we do not sell it to anyone else.
  • Domain Farm Ltd, the publisher of this site. It receives your request by email and by a private Telegram message to its owner, so that it can check it and pass it to the broker.
  • Our service providers: the hosting, email and messaging services (including Telegram) that carry your request to us. They handle it only on our behalf.
  • Companies House, which receives the company name or number you type (not your name, phone or email).

How long we keep it

We keep a Find a lender request for 12 months from the date you sent it, then delete it, including the consent record, our email copy and our Telegram message. If you withdraw consent or ask us to delete it sooner, we will, and we will tell the broker so it can do the same. Spam-guard hashes are deleted within a day; the Companies House cache and request counters within hours.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to move it. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Email editor@businessesfunding.co.uk; deletion requests go there too. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Cookies and tracking

None. We set no cookies, use no analytics, run no advertising scripts or tracking pixels, and store nothing in your browser. Links to lenders and to Companies House carry no tracking or referral codes.

Third parties

The site loads its typefaces (Newsreader and Inter) from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch them and Google receives your IP address and browser details, as with any request. Nothing else on the site loads from another company. When you follow a link to a lender or to Companies House you leave this site and that organisation’s own policy applies.

If this changes

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page on the day it starts. Consent wording is versioned: the version you agreed to is stored with your request. Current consent wording: “I agree that Domain Farm Ltd (publisher of Businesses Funding) will pass these details to a UK business finance broker we work with, who will contact me about finance. Domain Farm Ltd is paid by the broker for introductions.” (version v1-2026-10-14).
