Merchant cash advance

An advance repaid as a fixed percentage of your card takings, so repayments rise and fall with sales. Priced as a factor rate, not an APR.

Comparison table in progress. We publish a table only once every figure in it is sourced to the lender. Until then, here is what this finance is and what to weigh. For a live sourced comparison now, see business loans.

How it works

You take an advance and repay it as a fixed percentage of your daily card takings, so you pay more on good days and less on quiet ones. It is priced as a factor rate, not an APR: borrow £10,000 at a 1.2 factor and you repay £12,000, however long it takes.

What to compare

The factor rate, the holdback percentage, and the effective cost once you annualise it, which is often far higher than it first looks. This is the family where honest comparison matters most, so we are taking care over the table.
